That Other Project was founded to help Park County residents access their community in a safe and enjoyable way.

That Other Project (TOP) is a group of individuals in Park County who want to encourage their neighbors to take part in everyday activities in a safe, enjoyable way. By engaging with groups in the community and providing city-wide signage and amenities, our team is dedicated to making a lasting, positive impact for all.

ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN

Our current goal and priority is an Active Transportation Pathway through and around Cody.  The first step in this process is hiring a firm to create an Active Transportation Master Plan that we can adopt and implement to create safe and accessible options for pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians, and other non-motorized commuters and recreationists.  We are excited to announce that we have hired HDR based in Lander, in partnership with EA, a Cody firm.  TOP, in cooperation with the City of Cody, has put together an Active Transportation Committee that helped select HDR and to oversee the process of creating a new Active Transportation Master Plan for Cody.  We will also make it a huge priority to include the community in the Master Plan process through community input sessions and outreach efforts along the way.  Please join us at our Open House on Wednesday, August 16th at Glendale Park from 6-8PM!  You can also contact us at info@thatotherproject.org to be kept up to date on how you can help and be heard!

THE BIGHORN PROJECT

Bighorn Avenue has become a hot topic in the Cody community. From the increase of non-industrial businesses to new subdivisions to the north, we believe there is a need for increased safety for pedestrians. Many children walk and bike along this route to get to school. By promoting slower driving, providing easier access to businesses—and most importantly—making it safe for pedestrians to cross, Bighorn Avenue can be transformed to accommodate all travelers.

What’s Being Done:

After many different groups and individuals campaigned for something to change, there has been progress!  By 2024, WYDOT has agreed to install a traffic light at Blackburn and to make the current temporary crosswalk at Freedom Street permanent.  This is a huge step in the right direction!
